Beautiful one of a kind Buddha with the Sacred Chant "Om Mani Padme Hum" engraved on the Buddha's garment. Anyone who has travelled to northern India (Leh-Ladakh/Himachal/Dharamsala/Eastern India with Buddhist influences) would be more than familiar with this mantra (prayer). This brass statue is enhanced with coral and turquoise embellishments. Amazing piece of Art to cherish, collect or gift. Measuring 13 inches high by 10 inches long by 7 inches wide, this piece of art weighs a little over 12 pounds. As this statue is handmade by artists in India - no two statues are a exactly the same, minor imperfections, slight change in color and scratches (not defects) may be present and add to the character of this art. Meaning of Om Mani Padme Hum (Ref: http://www.dharma-haven.org) Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Avalokiteshvara, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect. Story behind the meditation position - Protection Buddha / Overcoming Fear This depiction of a seated Buddha with the right hand raised and facing outwards has two common meanings. The first is that of the Protection Buddha, as the raised right hand symbolically represents a shield. The second meaning, Overcoming Fear, is closely related to the first (since one who is receiving protection would be less fearful). The main features of this pose, aside from the raised right hand, is that The Buddha can be depicted either sitting or standing, and the left hand may either be extended outward or palm up in the lap. This statue signifies courage and offers protection from fear, delusion and anger. Feng Shui Placement - Centre of your home, main entrance or altar.
